The New York Jets beat the No. 2 seed San Diego Chargers in the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs last weekend. It was a huge upset – no one saw this coming. The Jets upset win and move into the AFC Championship game against the Indianapolis Colts got me thinking … just how good is Mark Sanchez?

Sanchez is the Jets rookie quarterback. He was the No. 5 pick in the 2009 NFL Draft and has started for the Jets in 15 of 16 games. He only threw for 2,444 yards and 12 touchdowns in the regular season, plus 20 interceptions. Sanchez had a QB Rating of 63 for the entire season.

So if Sanchez didn’t have a great statistical season, just how important is he to the team’s success? The Jets are a defense/run first type of team – but would they be where they are today with a different quarterback? Would the Jets be in the AFC Championship Game with someone like David Garrard or Vince Young as their QB? Both had statistically better seasons than Sanchez, but maybe they’re lacking something Mark has?

What’s your take? Post a comment and let me know. And if you’re looking for New York Jets AFC Championship Game tickets, StubHub still has them!

Wildcard weekend is officially over in the NFL. Both AFC Wildcard teams, the New York Jets and the Baltimore Ravens, won their games and advanced to the 2010 NFL Divisional Playoffs. The NFC Wildcard teams weren’t as lucky – they both lost. That Green Bay Packers vs. Arizona Cardinals game last night was crazy. There were 96 total points scored and the game ended on an overtime Aaron Rodgers fumble that was returned for a touchdown.

This weekend we will have some awesome games on our hands for the Divisional Playoffs. Let’s take a look:

AFC Playoffs
Baltimore Ravens vs. Indianapolis Colts
New York Jets vs. San Diego Chargers

NFC Playoffs
Dallas Cowboys vs. Minnesota Vikings
Arizona Cardinals vs. New Orleans Saints

I’m not going to pick any winners because I always get them wrong and I don’t want you losing all your money. But I will tell you which game I’m looking forward to the most. I’m an AFC honk, so naturally the Baltimore Ravens vs. Indianapolis Colts is first on my list. I love the way the Ravens manhandled the Patriots and can’t wait to see how the fare against the Colts.

If you’re still looking for tickets to one of this weekend’s four games, head over the StubHub. They have Playoff Tickets as low as $109.

Dan Snyder finally has his man. Mike Shanahan, former Super Bowl winning coach of the Denver Broncos, signed a five-year contract to become head coach and executive vice president of football operations for the Washington Redskins. The contract is worth approximately $7 million a year.

It was no secret (pretty much since Week 5 of the NFL) that the Redskins wanted Mike Shanahan to coach their team. He’s a big name coach with a history of winning – something the Redskins haven’t had in years. Washington is the most profitable sports franchise in America, so the $7 million a year is nothing to them.

Synder wants one thing and one thing only – to win a Super Bowl. He’s spent the money on players in the past and now he’s spending money on the coaches. I think Shanahan will bring a winning attitude to this team. My only concern is will handling the football operations and personnel be too much for him, in addition to the coaching. It remains to be seen. If he can kick of 2010 with a solid draft then I see the Redskins being relevant again in the NFC as early as this year.

Fans, it’s not too early to start thinking about Washington Redskins season tickets. I just looked on StubHub and they have season tix for aslow as $1100. You won’t find that price anywhere else.

I scoured the internet for all references to the top baseball stadiums in America. I looked at Top 10 lists, baseball forums and comments on sites like Flickr. I wanted as many opinions as I could find. After all my research it seems the consensus Number 1 pick is Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs.

Wrigley Field was built in 1914 and has served as home to the Chicago Cubs since 1916. She hasn’t seen many World Series, but it’s still the best stadium in the land. Wrigley is one of the last remaining stadiums from the old era. It’s rich with tradition and memories of how the game used to be. In fact, Wrigley Field wasn’t just the home to the Chicago Cubs – from 1921 to 1970 it was also the home to the Chicago Bears NFL team.

Wrigley Field is nicknamed The Friendly Confines, a phrase popularized by “Mr. Cub”, Hall of Famer Ernie Banks. Baseball fans make it a point to visit Wrigley Field. It’s like one of those places you have to visit before you die. They sell out every game win or lose, even in the middle of a weekday. It’s just a great environment and the perfect place to watch a baseball game.

If you’re going to be in the Chicago area, you have to make it a point to visit Wrigley Field, even if there isn’t a game going on. But if you happen to be in Chicago during the summer, why not buy a pair of Cubs Tickets and enjoy what’s great about baseball.

Last night the NFL announced the 2010 Pro Bowl teams. There were some surprises and some snubs, but for the most part the teams look how I thought they would. The AFC is led by guys like Peyton Manning, Chris Johnson, Maurice Jones-Drew, Andre Johnson and Wes Welker. While the NFC team features Larry Fitzgerald, Adrian Peterson, Dre Brees and DeSean Jackson.

There were two players that immediately stuck out on the AFC side as snubs: Randy Moss and Vincent Jackson. As of week 16, Moss has about 80 receptions, 1200 yards and 13 touchdowns – not to mention he’s one of the best receivers of all-time. Like Moss, Vincent Jackson is a deep ball threat and surged onto the scene this year as one of the league’s top WRs. Philip Rivers would be just a good quarterback without someone like Jackson to throw to.

Remember that when you’re looking for Pro Bowl tickets that the 2010 game is actually held in Miami, Florida – not Hawaii anymore. It makes traveling much easier and the weather will be just as beautiful. Miami is the perfect party city to host the Pro Bowl.

We are just 3 days away from the 2010 Sugar Bowl on January 1, 2010 featuring the No. 5 Florida Gators and the No. 3 Cincinnati Bearcats. The Florida Gators were the No. 1 ranked team the entire year until they lost to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SECCG. That loss cost them a shot at the National Championship game.

The Cincinnati Bearcats surprised everyone. They are undefeated and have one of the top quarterbacks in the country in Tony Pike. They did lose their coach Brian Kelly to Notre Dame – that doesn’t help their cause in beating the Gators.

There is a lot of hype around this Sugar Bowl – more so than in year’s past. This will be Tim Tebow’s final game and Florida Gators coach Urban Meyer will take a leave of absence following the conclusion to work on some health issues he has.

The Sugar Bowl is played in New Orleans and will be sold. But don’t let that get you down. Don’t try to go to the stadium and buy a ticket from a scalper. There are still hundreds of tickets (cheap and premium) available for sale online. With StubHub you can print tickets online. Kickoff is at 8:30 PM ET.
